Senior Fund Accountant, Account Manager – Fund Accounting

The SFA is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of a team of up to three Fund Accountants in addition to the review (and in some cases production) of client deliverables. They interact directly with all levels of the Fund Accounting team to ensure the NAV production process is running efficiently and all scheduled deliverables are on target for delivery. They are the key point of contact for their direct reports, assisting them in understanding and abiding by the processes and procedures outlined for our clients, the department and company as a whole.
> Review all assigned period-end deliverables in a timely and accurately manner
> Act as primary point of contact for client relationships, fielding questions, delivering client reports, and interacting with third parties
> Pro-actively communicate capacity issues to AVP for themselves and their direct reports
> Follow established procedures/checklists to ensure a process- and control-driven environment
> Communicate professionally within the Fund Accounting team and cross-department when escalating issues, requesting support, or discussing appropriate processing of fund activity
> Review/produce client deliverables (NAV packages and supporting reports)
> Monitor workload of direct reports to ensure NAV tasks are being completed based on established delivery schedule
> Collaborate with other team leads to conduct periodic training sessions for FAs and quarterly check-ins to discuss performance
> Review documented fund procedures on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy
> Participate in annual evaluation process and conduct performance reviews for direct reports
> Lead training for new hires and assist in production of training material
- Effectively delegate responsibilities to direct reports as needed
- Act as a mentor for junior-level staff, setting an example and assisting them with progression in their desired career path
- Display pro-active attitude toward seeking additional responsibilities when under-capacity
- Desire to expand technical skills, accounting knowledge, and improve management and communication skills
- Project professional, positive demeanor; be approachable and display a “team-player” attitude
- Punctual attendance and adherence to out of office policies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related degree
- Prefer previous hedge fund, financial services or financial operations experience.
- Experience leading a team or associates preferred
